           Greg Hembree Selected to Lead Senate Education Committee
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SOUTH CAROLINA – Greg Hembree, State Senator for District 28 (Horry and Dillon), has been named Chairman of the Senate Education Committee. This was announced on January 8, 2019, by President of the Senate, Harvey Peeler.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           The Senate Education Committee is responsible for all state legislation impacting preschool, Kindergarten through twelfth grade, and institutions of higher education in South Carolina. 
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Asked about his new assignment Senator Hembree said, “Providing the opportunity for a world class education to every South Carolinian is one of the most fundamental responsibilities of government. We have a very strong group of senators serving on our committee and look forward to improving those opportunities; we can do better in South Carolina and we are eager to get to work.”
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            The Senate Education Committee is already considering a number of reform proposals and expect to have a full calendar this year, which Governor McMaster has proclaimed “The Year of Education."

      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;

           State Sen. Greg Hembree, of Horry County, said he plans to serve as a substitute social studies teacher at Myrtle Beach Middle School during the rally, organized by SC for Ed, an educator-created advocacy group. He requested and was granted a day of leave during Senate floor remarks on Tuesday.
